Privacy Policy
WhatsMyIP.no is operated by NiceLab AS, a company registered in Norway. This policy explains what data the site processes and why. The short version: we show you data about your own connection, we store as little as possible, and we sell nothing.
Data we process to provide the service
When you visit the site or call the API, we necessarily process your IP address and request headers (such as your user agent) — that is the entire point of the service. To show location and provider details we forward your IP to a geolocation service (ipwho.is); the result may be cached in server memory for up to 24 hours to reduce repeated lookups. We do not build profiles from this data and we do not store it in any database.
Values you type into tools (IP addresses, domain names) are used only to answer your query and are not logged for any other purpose.
Analytics and advertising cookies (only with consent)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful, and Google AdSense to fund the service. Both are loaded in "consent mode": no analytics or advertising cookies are set unless you press Accept cookies in the consent dialog. If you decline, the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which will make the dialog appear again.
Rate limiting
To keep the free API available for everyone, our server keeps a short-lived in-memory counter of requests per IP address. These counters expire within minutes and are never written to disk.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold essentially none beyond transient technical logs, but any request or question is welcome — contact NiceLab AS via nicelab.io. You also have the right to complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
